The truth of the matter is that I’m a pompous asshole. And while the pretention is self-appointed, there have been too many women whom have called me an asshole for it to not be true. With that said, it is true that I haven’t reviewed Cosmonauts out of a distant, lazy spite- the spite being born out of their own distant laziness- the new 7 inch, Lazerbeam, is a scream apart from their psychic-drone aesthetic. Rather than cradling you to sleep, it shakes the listener with the kind of melody that is reminiscent of such echoes as Guided By Voices, Galaxie 500, and Jesus and the Mary Chain. Tonight, The Cosmonauts do not visit the gallows. I’m very much interested in what comes next.
